  1. We were honored to recognize the 2024 Servant of the Year at Staff Appreciation Chapel this week. The Servant of the Year award is presented by the alumni association to current or former staff members whose testimony in ministry exemplifies the Appalachian Bible College distinctive of servanthood. The 2024 Servant of the Year is Cheryl Parvin. Cheryl joined the faculty of ABC in 1998, but was raised on campus as her parents served on ABC's staff. Besides teaching Speech and English, she has been the Drama Team and Puppet Team Director for many years. Before beginning her service at ABC, Cheryl also served as a faculty member at Pensacola Christian College, Editor and writer for Union Gospel Press, and Secondary Education Instructor at Cross Lanes Christian School. Cheryl is an alumnus of the College and a faithful servant who pursues excellence in all she does. She has also served in numerous ways outside of ABC’s campus, including involvement in Children's Ministries, Women's Prayer Ministry, Drama Ministries, and serving as a Christian School Board member. She recently authored and published a Christian fiction book, A Clear Ring of Truth, and faithfully cares for her aging parents. Cheryl, for your diligent service at ABC for more than 25 years, it is our privilege to honor you as the 2024 “Servant of the Year.”
