Everyone experiences anger, anxiety, and depression at times. What does the Bible have to say about working through these emotions? Join us for the 2024 Symposium as we explore how to "bring into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ," according to 2 Corinthians 10:3–5.

Men's Speaker: Pastor Tobe Witmer

Tobe and Amy Witmer have been joyfully married for 31 years and they have five children. Tobe earned his undergraduate and master's degrees from Bob Jones University. He was presented a Doctorate of Divinity from South India Baptist Seminary in 2020.

Tobe served in pastoral ministry for over 30 years. For the last 21 years, Tobe has served as the lead pastor for Lighthouse Baptist Church, Newark, Delaware. He pioneered the church as their first pastor. Tobe served for seven years as a corporate chaplain, and has served as a Honorary Commander of the Delaware State Police since 2017. He is a board member of the Delaware State Police Advisory Council to New Castle County.

In 2021 Tobe assisted in launching Guiding Light Biblical Counseling at the church. GLBC is staffed by ACBC certified counselors. In 2023, after the loss of their twenty-eight year old daughter Abigail by suicide, Tobe and Amy founded Safe Helps Group. Safe Helps Group is a non-profit organization committed to the prevention of suicide, education about the road that leads to suicide, and comfort of survivors of suicide. In 2024, Tobe resigned from the pastorate and now serves as the Director of SHG.

Women's Speaker: Susan Heck

Susan Heck was married for 46 years to her beloved husband and pastor, Doug Heck, who was a faithful Shepherd for 50 years, until the Lord took him to glory in August 2021. For 40 years, she has been involved in women's ministry, including teaching Bible Studies, discipleship, counseling, and heading up Ladies with the Master women’s ministry at Grace Community Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Susan is a certified counselor with the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors. She is also the author of the With the Master Bible study series for ladies, as well as A Call to Discipleship, Putting-Off Life Dominating Sins; A Call to Scripture Memory; A Message of Assurance: Twenty Tests for God's Children; What Does a Spirit Filled Marriage Look Like?; Speaking the Truth in Love in a Post Truth World; and The Liberating Gospel. Susan’s teaching ministry is an outgrowth of her memorization work on the Bible. She has memorized the entire New Testament and is now journeying her way through more of the Old Testament. To God be the glory!

Susan has two grown children and seven grandchildren.
